United Solar's proprietary Triple Junction spectrum-splitting amorphous silicon cell design achieves high performance. These cells are constructed of three separate p-i-n type, amorphous semiconductor solar sub-cells, each with a different spectral response characteristic. This allows the cell to convert the different visible and near infrared wavelengths of sunlight with optimal efficiency. The thin-film cells are made in a patented continuous roll-to-roll deposition process on a flexible stainless steel sheet. Each of the nine thin-film semiconductor layers that comprise the cell is sequentially deposited in separate, dynamically-isolated, plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) chambers as the stainless steel substrate progresses through the machine. The result is a unique, flexible, light-weight cell.

Features:
The modules are exceptionally durable. They are encapsulated in UV-stabilized polmers and framed with black anodized aluminum that can be adjusted for optimum tilt, wind resistance and exposure to sunlight.. A Galvalume steel backing plate provides stiffness. The polymer encapsulation includes EVA and ETFE. The unbreakable, non-glass module is bonded to an anodized aluminum frame for strength. Bypass diodes are connected across each cell, allowing the modules to produce power even when partially shaded. They come standard with Multi-Contact® connectors. The cable is a 2-conductor 12 AWG (22 in./ 560 mm) with insulation rated at 194°F/90°C. They are appropriate for all applications from simple single module requirements to larger grid-connected applications. All are UL listed and come with a 20 year warranty on power output. |

Why Do UNI-SOLAR Products Outperform Others? All solar panels are rated in terms of peak power output (watts). Outdoors, under normally higher operating temperatures, solar panel performance changes, depending on temperature, solar spectrum (light color) and related effects. UNI-SOLAR products are less affected by temperature than monocrystalline or polycrystalline solar technology products. The result is up to 20% more delivered energy.** ** Source Solfest, “Module Shoot Out” |
